Fluid Management During Lung Resection

Managing fluid administration during lung resection by the anesthesiologist is very similar to a tightrope walker, trying to balance the risk of acute lung injury and of acute kidney injury. There is a narrow interval between fluid overload and hypovolemia, two conditions that may impair lung and renal function, respectively. This challenge is crucial to win because it has a profound impact on perioperative morbidity and mortality.
