Rupture of the quadriceps tendon is relatively uncommon, and early management is recommended. Chronic ruptures of quadriceps tendon are difficult to repair. They are usually associated with poor clinical outcomes because of scar formation and retraction of the free ends of the tendon. We describe a technique of augmentation of the quadriceps tendon with hamstring tendon autograft with insertion on the upper pole of the patella using suture anchors. This technique has the advantages to use an autograft for the augmentation of the quadriceps tendon repair, associated with a strong fixation which allows rapid rehabilitation leading to a quick return to function. © 2008 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Inc.
