Cyclosporine (CsA) in combination with steroids is rapidly emerging as the immunosuppression of choice in kidney transplantation, particularly in high-risk populations for immunologic graft loss like presensitized patients, HLA nonidentical living related donor recipients and unrelated living donor (ULD) recipients. The experience on 94 consecutive kidney transplants from living donors in the CsA age, initiated at the University of Rome in November 1982, is here reported.

Abstract

Cyclosporine (CsA) in combination with steroids is rapidly emerging as the immunosuppression of choice in kidney transplantation, particularly in high-risk populations for immunologic graft loss like presensitized patients, HLA nonidentical living related donor recipients and unrelated living donor (ULD) recipients. The experience on 94 consecutive kidney transplants from living donors in the CsA age, initiated at the University of Rome in November 1982, is here reported.
