Fistola epato-colica secondaria ad annessite purulenta. Resoconto di un caso clinico [Hepato-colonic fistula secondary to purulent adnexitis. Description of a clinical case]

A case of pyogenic hepatic abscess with colonic fistula is presented, submitted to surgical treatment with 'en bloc' hepatic and colonic resection. The etiology of abscess, due to bilateral pyosalpinx in a patient bearing IUD and treated for breast cancer with surgery and chemotherapy, and the fistulization in colon, are very seldom described in the literature and make this case noteworthy. Diagnosis and treatment peculiarities of pyogenic hepatic abscesses are also examined, based on personal experience and on the literature.
