Abstract

EUS has recently evolved from a purely diagnostic procedure to an interventional technique aimed at delivering therapeutic agents at the site of puncture. The potential advantage of a tissue ablation device employed under EUS control is the real-time imaging guidance into the pancreas, which is difficult to reach by a percutaneous approach. We tested the safety and feasibility of EUS-guided Nd:YAG laser ablation in patients with stage IIb-III pancreatic duct adenocarcinoma (PDAC) after failed radio-chemiotherapy.
