This paper proposes a new method to simultaneously estimate the state and the delay of a linear time delay system. The approach is based on the definition of an augmented linear time-varying model whose state is composed by both the original state vector and the delay. The estimation is then carried out by developing an appropriate observer for the augmented system. A numerical example shows the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

Abstract
